Milk Processing Facility Additions and Renovation
Landover, MD
The scope of work consisted of a major renovation of 25,000 square feet and a new addition of 24,000 square feet to an existing Milk Processing facility. This is the first phase of a master plan to transform the existing cased milk to a caseless system. The first phase is designed to produce 500,000 gallons a week, with a second phase planned to increase the production to 1 million gallons a week.
The existing Freon refrigeration system was completely replaced with new hybrid Ammonia/Glycol system that provides 400 tons of cooling with a 650 pound Ammonia charge. The new caseless line includes a new blow molding system, fully automated milk filling system, 30,000 gallon silos, packaging and shipping docks. Work was carefully coordinated while maintaining production from the existing cased product lines.
